18th C Great Awakening: John Wesley’s Conversion
Dallimore’s biography of Whitefield is also a wide account of the 18th C Great Awakening. I’m glad he goes into tangential chapters on the Wales evangelists (Harris and Rowland) and the development of the Wesleys. I’ve always been fascinated by … Continue reading

Immoral Muslim Views on Women and Polygamy
Two Muslim leaders come forward this week to claim both a market and a call for legality for Muslim polygamous marriages. They have a good case in that our society permits plural sexual relationships, so why not this? The answer … Continue reading

18th C Great Awakening: The Wisdom of Whitefield
Why is John Wesley more well known than George Whitefield? Whitefield was 10 years younger than Wesley and only a member of Wesley’s Holy Club at Oxford. Yet at key points Whitefield shows more spiritual wisdom and theological insight than … Continue reading
Hoover Institution – Policy Review – How the West Really Lost God
This is a stunning essay on the rise and possible fall of secularism in the West. Is the thesis correct though? There are big gaps in either view. This essay represents what might be called a radical friendly amendment to … Continue reading

Questioning Hell: Is it ok for Christians to listen to heavy metal?
Not since the satanic video game “Quake 1” have I felt so righteously angry. For a long time I have been watching, from a distance, the musical genre of “metal”, if you can call it music. I’ve recently had my … Continue reading

David Field blogs the latest government stats from the UK on the number of abortions there. There is no equivalent reporting from any federal or state health department in Australia. Abortion is murder, a great evil. Hiding the evil is … Continue reading

My lists are feeling like this… Sorry big Dave, but I’m getting exhausted. Do you have a never-ending list? Do you manage your time? Do you manage minutes, tasks, and lists? Do you start each day with a list that … Continue reading

Trinity weighs on schools | The Australian
Pseudonymous rant or valid criticism? I was amazed to discover that most of my students, regardless of year level, did not even come close to knowing their times tables. Having since grown used to the ineptitude of my students, from … Continue reading

School English too hard: principal | The Australian
This floored me this morning. I would have hoped that an evangelical grammar school would be one of the last bastions of a classical body-of-canonical-knowledge education. Does this mean that such elite schools in Australia have been totally utilitarianised? THE … Continue reading
